LTC Steven Huckleberry

Field Artillery Squadron

Lt. Col. Steven Huckleberry was commissioned as a Field Artillery officer in 2006. His first assignment was in 1/25th SBCT at Fort Wainwright, Alaska, where he served as a Fire Direction Officer and Platoon Leader in C Battery, 2-8 FA, and as the D Company, 52nd Infantry Regiment (Anti-Tank) Fire Support Officer and 3rd Platoon Leader.

After completing the FA Captain’s Career Course, Lt. Col. Huckleberry returned to 1/25th SBCT, where he served as the BN FSO for 3-21 INF and commanded B Battery, 2-8 FA. He was subsequently assigned to Fort Irwin, CA, where he served as a Firing Battery OC/T and the BN Fire Direction OC/T at the National Training Center.

After completing the US Naval Command and Staff College, Lt. Col. Huckleberry was assigned to Joint Base Lewis-McChord. There, he served as a planner in 2nd ID DIVARTY; as the BDE FSO and BN XO in 1-37 FA, 1-2 SBCT; and as the DIVARTY S3 in 2nd ID DIVARTY. He is currently serving as the Squadron Commander for the Field Artillery Squadron, 2nd Cavalry Regiment.

Lt. Col. Huckleberry’s most recent assignment was as a School of Advanced Military Studies (SAMS) General Andrew Goodpaster Fellow at Georgetown University where he earned a PhD in Government (Political Science). He also holds a MA in National Defense and Security Studies from the Naval War College and an MA in International Relations from Salve Regina University.

His operational experience includes deployments to Iraq, Afghanistan, and Korea. His awards include 2x Bronze Stars, 1x Purple Heart, and 3x MSMs. He has earned the Expert Soldier Badge, Combat Action Badge, Pathfinder Badge, and Parachutist Badge.

Lt. Col. Huckleberry is married and has two children.
