Lieutenant Colonel Jason Adler is a native of Minnesota and began his military career as an Infantryman (11B) in June of 1995. His first assignment was to the Old Guard and served there until 1999. He earned a Green to Gold scholarship as a sergeant and attended George Mason University in Virginia, where he was commissioned into the infantry.
LTC Adler’s officer career began in the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) as a Rifle Platoon Leader in Alpha Company, 3-327th Infantry Battalion, 1st Infantry Brigade Combat Team (IBCT) and later served as an Anti-Armor Platoon Leader in Delta Company, 3-327th and Delta Company 1-506th Infantry Battalion. He deployed to Iraq in support of OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM from 2005-2006. During this time, LTC Adler served as the Executive Officer of Charlie Company and Battalion S1 of 1-506th Infantry Battalion, 4th IBCT.
Upon completion of the Maneuver Captains Career Course at Fort Benning, Georgia, LTC Adler assumed command of Charlie Company, 2-87th Infantry Regiment, 3rd IBCT, 10th Mountain Division (Light) in 2008. During his command tenure he deployed to Wardak Province, Afghanistan in support of OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM from 2009-2010. Following command, he was assigned to the National Training Center (NTC) from 2010-2012. LTC Adler served as a Company Commander O/C-T on the Tarantula Team (Airborne) and the Plans Team Chief for 20 Counter Insurgency or Decisive Action rotations.
Upon completion of the U.S. Command General Staff College in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, LTC Adler was assigned to Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM) and I Corps. He served in the Commander’s Initiative Group (CIG) for two Corps Commanders from 2013-2014. He was then assigned to 7th Infantry Division as the G5 Maneuver Planner where he planned two division warfighter exercises from 2014-2015, and then went on to be the Battalion Executive Officer for 2nd Battalion, 1st Infantry Regiment, 2nd Stryker BCT from 2015-2016 where the battalion executed an NTC rotation, participated in Pacific Pathways, and tested the proof of principal for Stryker gunnery at JBLM. LTC Adler’s final assignment at JBLM was as the Brigade Operations Officer for 189th Combined Arms Training Brigade (CAT-B), an organization charged with the training and readiness of 34 brigade-sized counterpart units and one Division Headquarters in the National Guard and US Army Reserve.
He served as the Assistant Professor of Military Science for The Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland from 2017-2018 and mentored cadets from five Baltimore universities. Most recently, he served as the senior Infantry Colonels Human Resource Manager at Senior Leader Development – Colonels Management Office from 2018-2020.
LTC Adler holds a Master’s degree in Emergency Management and Homeland Security from Arizona State University and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from George Mason University.
LTC Adler is married with two children.
