Command Sergeant Major (CSM) Paul Hamako is a native of Virginia. He enlisted in the United States Army in October 2000. He attended One Station Unit Training (OSUT) at Fort Benning, Georgia, where he was trained as an Indirect-Fire Infantryman.
Prior to his assignment with the War Eagle Squadron, CSM Hamako served in various leadership positions across Light and Stryker Infantry formations. His assignments included Mortar Squad Leader, Section Leader, Platoon Sergeant, First Sergeant, and Operations Sergeant Major. Most recently, he served with distinction as the Operations Sergeant Major at the Joint Multinational Readiness Center.
His previous assignments include Alpha Company, 3rd Battalion, 187th Infantry Regiment, Fort Campbell, Kentucky; Alpha Troop, 1st Squadron, 33rd Cavalry Regiment, Fort Campbell, Kentucky; Headquarters and Headquarters Company and Charlie Company, 1st Battalion, 21st Infantry Regiment, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii; Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 3rd Battalion, 187th Infantry Regiment, Fort Campbell, Kentucky; 3rd Battalion, 340th Infantry Regiment, Fort McCoy, Wisconsin; 1st Squadron, 2d Cavalry Regiment; 4th Squadron, 2d Cavalry Regiment; Regimental Headquarters and Headquarters Troop, 2d Cavalry Regiment, Rose Barracks, Germany; 1st Battalion, 4th Infantry Regiment, Panther Team, Joint Multinational Readiness Center, Hohenfels, Germany.
CSM Hamako has deployed in support of operational missions in Egypt, Afghanistan, and Iraq.
His military education includes all levels of the Noncommissioned Officer Education System (Sergeants Major Academy, Class 73), Commander and First Sergeant Course, Army Combatives Course, Infantry Mortar Leaders Course, Air Assault Course, Battle Staff Course, and the Pathfinder Course.
CSM Hamako is married to Mrs. Katy Hamako. They have two children, Jack and Charlie.
